In “Games with Books”, Peggy Kaye creates activities and games, centered around classic children’s literature. Using these books as a spring board, she describes how to encourage reading, drawing and writing.
“Harold and the Purple Crayon” by Crockett Johnson is one of the best books to inspire a child’s imagination and story writing.
She also uses “Chrysanthemum” by Kevin Henkes to support self esteem and introduce graphing, using the letters in children’s names.
I highly recommend this book for expanded activities inspired by literature for children four through seven years-old.
